Warm White Tree and Driveway Lighting on a Weston Estate
The project
For this residential project in Weston, we used warm white lighting to connect the property’s long driveway, open lawn, and surrounding woodland. A prominent deciduous tree was wrapped from the trunk through its main branches, creating a clearly defined focal point visible across the grounds. Traditional lamp posts positioned along the driveway were finished with illuminated evergreen garland, adding smaller pools of light that guide the approach through the property. The combination of branch wrapping and decorated posts creates depth without requiring lighting on the residence itself. Each element follows the existing landscape and hardscape, allowing the illuminated tree, stone walls, driveway curves, and wooded backdrop to remain part of one coordinated design.
The challenge
This property is about scale and distance. The main tree stands alone in an open lawn, taller than the house behind it, with a wide, open canopy of bare limbs that we wrapped from a lift. The driveway curves a long way from the entrance, with lamp posts spread out along it, so every lit element had to hold its own from far away.
How we lit it
We wrapped the trunk from the ground up and then followed the main limbs outward into the canopy, so the tree reads as a full shape rather than a lit trunk with dark branches. Warm white keeps it soft against the dark woods behind. The two lamp posts along the drive got a pre-lit fir garland spiraled from the base to the lantern, which ties them to the tree in color while keeping them at a smaller, human scale along the drive. The tree and the posts each run on their own timer. The house itself stays unlit, and the tree gives the property its focal point.
The result
At night the tree is visible from across the grounds, and the two garlanded posts mark the way up the drive. The result is a lit landscape rather than a lit house, which suits a property of this size.
